Masindi LC1 Chairman perishes in road crash while returning from burial
His severely damaged motorcycle and the tipper truck were towered to Masindi police station.
Masindi: The LC1 chairperson for Alimugonza central village in Pakanyi subcounty, Masindi district, James Ozele, has died in a motor accident.
Ozele, 41 years old, died in Kibbwona cell in Karujubu division along Masindi-Biiso Road on Sunday, July 14, 2024.
According to Patrick Acikare, the vice chairperson of the neighboring Waiga B village, Ozele was knocked down by a speeding Tipper Lorry at around 9 a.m. while returning from Buliisa district, where he had gone to bury his sister-in-law.
Acikare explained that when Ozele reached a sharp corner, the Tipper that was coming from the opposite direction knocked and dragged him for several meters, killing him instantly.
He added that the Ozele body was picked up from the scene by police and taken to Masindi hospital before being handed over to the relatives for burial, while his severely damaged motorcycle and the tipper truck were towered to Masindi police station.
The chairperson of Pakanyi subcounty, Frank Asiimwe, mourned Ozele’s death and called for maximum caution while using the roads to avoid accidents.
A comment from the police on the matter could not be readily obtained by the time of publication.
