Masindi district service commission chairperson face suspension
He therefore gave 14 days to call for a meeting of the district service commission to discharge its duties as required by law, step aside, or be suspended or removed from office without further warning.
Masindi: The Masindi district LCV chairman, Cosmas Byaruhanga, has has threatened to suspend the district service commission chairman, Benjamin Byarugaba.
In a letter addressed to Byarugaba, dated May 7, 2024, it asked about his persistent failure to conduct district service commission meetings, causing paralysis of service delivery in the district.
According to the letter, Byaruhanga also asked him to explain why he should continue being a chairperson for the district service commission, drawing salary for services not rendered within seven days, or why he should not be removed from office as per the law or perform his duties immediately.
Byaruhanga said that this leaves him with no option but to cause Byarugaba temporary removal from office by the suspension on the following grounds and in accordance with Section 54(4s) of the Local Government Act, Cap 242 as amended.
The district boss therefore suspended Byarugaba on grounds of misconduct, incompetence, failure to convene district service commission meetings since July 2023 without any lawful excuse, and failure to respect the court order.
Byaruhanga therefore gave 14 days to call for a meeting of the district service commission to discharge its duties as required by law, step aside, or be suspended or removed from office without further warning.
Benjamin Byarugaba, the Masindi district service commission chairperson, acknowledged having received the letter and said he had yet to make an official statement regarding it.
‘’ Apparently I can’t comment on that letter, but I received it. “I will respond officially in writing, as he has done,” he added.
