Man murdered in suspected love triangle in Gulu
He confirmed that two suspects, Ahmed and his brother (both sons of Haruna), have been arrested in connection with the murder.

Gulu: A 37-year-old man, identified as Opio Kenneth, a driver and resident of Tegwana Ward, Pece-Laroo Division, Gulu City, was allegedly murdered on Friday, February 21, 2025, in what is suspected to be a love-related dispute.
According to ASP Ongom David Mudong, the Aswa West Regional Police Spokesperson, reports indicate that on the night of February 20, 2025, Kenneth was involved in a fight with an unidentified man, known as one of the sons of Haruna, over a woman referred to as “Sister to Haruna.”
The following morning, on Friday, February 21, 2025, Kenneth was found dead in Haruna’s compound.
The incident was reported to authorities by Okello Francis Opoka, the LC1 Chairperson of Layibi A & B, a resident of Layibi A & B Cell, Tegwana Ward, Pece-Laroo, Gulu City. The case has been registered under CRB 35/2025.

A team of officers, led by SP Mukosa Stephen, OC Station, visited the crime scene, where they discovered Kenneth’s body with deep cut wounds to the head and chest. Authorities also found all neighboring houses and Haruna’s residence locked and deserted.
ASP Mudong further stated that the body of the deceased has been taken to Gulu Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination, while efforts to track down the remaining suspects are ongoing.
