Kitgum: A 25-year-old man, identified as Ocan Patrick from Lamogi Village, Ladotonen Parish in Kiteny Subcounty, Kitgum District, is alleged to have killed his 19-year-old brother, Odong Denish, over a cash debt of 2,000 shillings on Monday, January 6th, 2025.
According to IP Oloya Joe, the Aswa East Regional Police Spokesperson, the incident occurred at around 3:00 PM in Lamogi Village, Ladotonen Parish, Kiteny Subcounty.
A misunderstanding between the two brothers over the debt reportedly escalated, leading Ocan Patrick to pick up a pounding stick from the homestead of his in-law, Kidega Bosco, and strike his brother on the head.
Odong Denish succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to Namokora Health Center IV. Police have since registered a case of murder, visited the crime scene, and recorded relevant witness statements.
The body of the deceased is currently at Namokora Health Center IV, awaiting a postmortem examination, while the suspect, Ocan Patrick, has been arrested and detained at Kitgum CPS.
IP Oloya has urged the public to remain calm as investigations progress and assured that the suspect will be presented in court.
