Man arrested with bullet in Masindi town
He was arrested boarding a taxi to Kiryandongo district
Masind: Man believed to be in his mid-20s has been arrested with a bullet in Masindi town.
The teenager, whose name could not be readily obtained, was arrested on Tuesday June 18, 2024 by the leaders of Kabalega secondary school taxi stage while boarding a vehicle to Kyatiti town council in Masindi district.
Joel Monday, the defense secretary at the stage, told our reporter that the bullet was seen after it fell when the teenager was pulling out the money from the pocket of his trousers to pay the taxi fares.
Monday added that they immediately arrested the teenager and later called police at Masindi station, who rushed to the scene and took him to Masindi police station.
Rajab Abitegeka, the stage chairperson, noted that the incident calls for vigilance among the drivers and stage guides by checking all the passengers before boarding the taxis to avoid carrying the wrong people.
The Masindi district police commander, Jakob Chepskori, confirmed the arrest and detention of the teenager, revealing that he will be charged with being in possession of government stores.
