Man arrested for allegedly defiling granddaughters
The victims were staying with their grandfather since their mother was working far from the home village.
Ntungamo: Police in Ntungamo district are investigating circumstances surrounding the incestuous relationship between a 63-year-old man and his three granddaughters, Amon Muhumuza writes.
Police identified the suspect as Francis Tibijuka, a resident of Rwenanuura one-cell Kyempisi, Kakukuru-Rwenanuura town council, Ntungamo district.
According to police, they were notified by the mother of the victims, identified as Joyce Twiguririrwe, lodge attendant at Imazone bar and lodges in Rubaare town council, after she learned about the incestuous relationship between her father and her three girl children.
The victims were staying with their grandfather since their mother was working far from the home village.
The victims, whose names were withheld since they’re juveniles between the ages of 5 and 9 years, said their grandfather has been using them in sexual acts after they got tired of his actions toward them. They narrated to their mother, who tipped police to apprehend him.
The suspect was first apprehended on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, and detained at Rubaare police station for some days. Later, he was transferred to Ntungamo CPS on Friday, October 25, 2024, for further management of the matter.
The Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate, confirmed the arrest of Francis Tibijuka, saying he is in their custody.
