LIST! 16 pick nomination forms to contest for MP seats in Masindi
The candidates are eyeing four parliamentary positions in the district: three directly elected constituency seats.
Masindi: A total of 16 aspirants have so far picked nomination forms from the Electoral Commission (EC) offices in Masindi District, as preparations intensify for the 2026 general elections.
The candidates are eyeing four parliamentary positions in the district, three directly elected constituency seats for Buruli County, Masindi Municipality, and Bujenje County as well as the Woman Member of Parliament seat for the district.
According to information from the EC’s Masindi office, Buruli County has attracted the highest number of contenders, with seven aspirants, Masindi Municipality follows with five candidates, Bujenje County has two aspirants while the Woman MP seat also has two contenders.
In Masindi Municipality, the aspirants who have picked nomination forms include; Byamukama Rogers (NRM), Businge Joab (FDC), Kanti Rogers (NUP), Asiimwe Denis (Independent) and Tumwesige Vincent (Independent).
For Buruli County, the contenders are Byaruhanga Moses (Independent), Ayeteggereza Kennedy (Independent), Ongei Patrick (Independent), Akugizibwe Aled Ronald (NRM), Barongo Fred (Independent), Nyakojjo Ismail (Independent) and Mwetegya Zacheus (Independent).
In Bujenje County, the two aspirants so far are Kahwa Kolping (Independent) and Kiiza Kenneth Nyendwoha (NRM).
For the District Woman MP seat, the forms have been picked by Kasemire Shamim (Independent) and Asiimwe Nottie Karen (Independent).
Efforts to get a comment from Gastervus Kakaire, the Masindi District Returning Officer, were unsuccessful by press time.
