Leaders tipped on empowering young Ugandans to spur economic transformation
He challenged all leaders to always have charity organizations aimed at lobbying for their constituents, especially the less privileged.
Ntungamo: Political and civic leaders have been challenged to empower and support talented young Ugandans in order to spur social-economic transformation across the country.
According to Ruhaama sub-county councilor Ahabwe Bernard Mupenda, young people must be supported and involved in planning and decision-making if the country is to have competent generational leaders.
Mupenda made remarks over the weekend while officiating the handing over of the relief items to the beneficiaries at the Ruhaama sub-county playground, donated by Mwonyo’s Heart, a charity organization started by students of Uganda Christian University Mukono.
He challenged all leaders to always have charity organizations aimed at lobbying for their constituents, especially the less privileged.
Mupenda hailed Namanya Violah Buroko for the initiative, saying that it is a shock absorber for the other Ruhaama people in diaspora.
The students from Uganda Christian University, led by Namanya Violah Buroko, revealed that the students started Mwonyo’s Heart as a charity organization to support and restore hope to the less privileged people in the country.
Namanya noted that they selected 52 pupils from Ruhaama County who hail from poor backgrounds and their parents for the first phase to benefit from the pilot program.
She asked Ugandans who are well off to join them as the only way to serve their country and its people.
Mwonyo’s Heart UCU has donated food items such as sugar, rice, maize flour, soap, pads, clothes, books, pens, pencils, and school fees to Kotido, Kampala, Wakiso, and Ntungamo districts.
The beneficiaries commended the Mwonyo’s Heart UCU, led by Namanya Viola Buroko, for the gesture.
The occasion was blessed by Ven. Rev. John Baryamumpa, the archdeacon of Ruhaama, and political leaders, including Kinyata Ipolito, the LCIII chairman of Ruhaama sub-county.
