Lamwo CDO faces arrest for embezzling youth funds

Lamwo: The Lamwo Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr. Oceng Geoffrey Osborne, has ordered the arrest of the district youth focal point person, Mr. Okumu Robert, over allegations of embezzling youth funds for four quarters.
According to Commissioner Oceng, the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development sends a quarterly youth fund of 1.8 million shillings per quarter, totaling 7.2 million shillings, which have allegedly been swindled.
He added that this money is meant to facilitate youth activities and meetings in the district, confirming that the last quarter’s funds were initiated on May 13, 2024, matured on June 13, 2024, and were sent to the account belonging to Okumu Robert, the Community Development Officer of Palabek Town Council.

The presidential representative tasked the accountant, Mr. Olony Bosco, to produce the names of those who received funds from other quarters, as records show that 1,750,000 shillings were wired to Mr. Owili Nelson, which must be refunded.
Oceng also mentioned that the issue of youth funds caused disorganization during the youth celebration held at Paloga since the district released 2.8 million shillings, but the youth leadership only received 800,000 shillings.
We couldn’t get a comment from the accused, Mr. Okumu Robert, since his known numbers were not going through by the time of publication.
