Kyetume, Wobusobozi unite coordinators ahead of 2026 LCV Chairman Race
“Masindi deserves competent and trustworthy leaders. Voters should scrutinize the professional backgrounds of all candidates before casting their votes,” he added.

Masindi: Two former contenders in the recently concluded NRM party primaries have joined forces in a strategic move aimed at fronting an independent candidate for the LCV Chairman seat in the 2026 general elections.
In a hotly contested NRM primary election for the Masindi District LCV chairperson seat conducted on July 24, 2025, Godfrey Byarugaba emerged victorious, securing the party’s flag ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Byarugaba polled a total of 15,276 votes, defeating his closest rival Patrick Wobusobozi, who garnered 11,537 votes. David Kyetume Kasanga came third with 4,486 votes, while Moses Kirya trailed with 1,193 votes.
Patrick Wobusobozi and David Kyetume Kasanga, both of whom participated in the NRM primaries for the Masindi LCV chairmanship, held a joint meeting with their campaign coordinators on Wednesday at Bright High School, located in Kisiita Cell, Central Division, Masindi Municipality.
Speaking after the meeting, David Kyetume stated that the purpose of the gathering was to review the NRM primaries, address the mistakes observed during the party election, and strategize for the upcoming general elections.
“We needed to reflect on what went wrong during the primaries to ensure the same doesn’t happen in the general elections. I have decided to back Wobusobozi Patrick as an independent candidate, and I call upon our supporters to rally behind him,” Kyetume said.
Kyetume also urged voters to evaluate all candidates based on their track record, particularly how they conducted themselves in previous roles.
“Masindi deserves competent and trustworthy leaders. Voters should scrutinize the professional backgrounds of all candidates before casting their votes,” he added.
On his part, Patrick Wobusobozi, who finished second in the NRM primaries, expressed gratitude to the coordinators from both camps for agreeing to work together in his independent campaign.
“I am deeply grateful to all coordinators for choosing unity over division. With your support, I am confident we can secure victory in 2026,” Wobusobozi said.
He pledged to serve all residents of Masindi without discrimination based on religion, tribe, gender, political affiliation, or any form of sectarianism.
“I appeal to the people of Masindi to embrace change. Elect me as your LCV Chairman, and I will build a legacy that future generations will look back on with pride,” he concluded.
