Kitgum voters urged to re-elect impactful leaders in 2026 polls

Kitgum: During the Kitgum District Women’s Day celebration held recently at Namokora Town Council, the Deputy RDC of Kitgum, Hajji Marijan Walire, called on voters to continue supporting the current leadership for the sustainable development of both Kitgum and Uganda.
He emphasized that the country is at a critical takeoff stage, urging citizens to “protect the trees and hands that feed them” for a brighter future.
Walire also highlighted the role of women in shaping the country’s leadership, noting that women always speak the truth, which is why President Museveni trusts them.
Hon. Dr. Aber Lillian, the State Minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness, and Refugees, officiated the event and shared her commitment to economic growth in Kitgum.
She revealed that over 600 million shillings had been distributed to various Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) groups within the district to enhance local development.
Additionally, Dr. Lillian affirmed her candidacy for the Kitgum District Woman MP seat in the upcoming January 2026 elections, promising to offer even better services to the district.
Kitgum District LCV Chairperson, Hon. Arwai Christopher Obol, also expressed his ambition to groom a female leader to eventually take the district’s leadership, ensuring a smooth transition when the time is right.
