Kitgum receives drugs for first quarter from NMS

Kitgum: Kitgum District has received the first quarter drug consignment from the National Medical Stores (NMS), marking the beginning of the first cycle for the 2024/2025 financial year.
Dr. Okello Henry Otto, Kitgum’s District Health Officer (DHO), revealed that the consignment is designated for lower-level health facilities, including all Health Center II and Health Center III units in the district.
It also covers military facilities at Labwordwong and Pajimo military barracks, Kitgum Prison, Tikao Prison Farm, and Kitgum Police. He added that the drugs received include essential medications, with a focus on anti-malarial injectables and tablets.
Kilama Patrick, the Secretary for Health and Education in Kitgum District, confirmed witnessing the delivery and applauded the Government of Uganda and NMS for the timely supply.
He emphasized that this delivery will support the supply trends to the facilities and ensure proper medication.
The Kitgum District LCV Chairperson, Hon. Arwai Christopher Obol, expressed satisfaction with the timely delivery, pledging the district’s commitment to ensuring that the drugs serve their intended purpose.
Hajji Marijan Walire, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Kitgum, warned against both internal and external theft of the drugs, underscoring that this consignment represents a government commitment to serving the nation.
Kitgum District has 12 government Health Center II units and 4 private ones, 9 government Health Center III units, a Health Center IV, and a district hospital.
