He also noted that they expect to be equipped with electronic gadgets to facilitate the electronic registration process where members who attended the meeting will be deployed to help mobilize the local community.
Kitgum: The Kitgum district Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) leadership held a planning meeting with its grassroots leadership on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, to prepare for the upcoming launch of the party members’ electronic registration.
In an interview with this news portal, Mr. Oyoo Morish Santo, the Kitgum district FDC Chairperson, confirmed that the party will officially launch the electronic registration of its members nationwide. The launch is scheduled for August 3, 2024, and will be led by the party leadership at Najanakumbi.
Mr. Santo mentioned that the only requirement for registration as a party member is the National Identification Number (NIN), which will automatically generate all the member’s details.
He also noted that they expect to be equipped with electronic gadgets to facilitate the electronic registration process where members who attended the meeting will be deployed to help mobilize the local community.
During an engagement meeting with FDC members in Kitgum, the Deputy President in charge of Northern Uganda, Mr. Fungaroo Kaps Hassan, shed light on the internal party conflict.
He attributed the discord to a power struggle between former presidential candidate Rtd. Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye and the current Secretary General, Nandala Mafabi. Mr. Fungaroo urged members to stay united and emphasized the importance of grassroots youth mobilization in preparation for the 2026 general election.
The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has recently split into two factions. One faction is led by party president Eng. Patrick Oboi Amuriat and Secretary General Nathan Nandala Mafabi, with its headquarters at Najanakumbi. The other faction is headed by party spokesperson Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda and deputy president (Central) Erias Lukwago.
