Kiryandongo launches rehabilitation of 10.2km road to boost development

He also encouraged the community to actively monitor the project to ensure high construction standards are upheld.

Kiryandongo: Kiryandongo District on Friday officially launched the rehabilitation of a 10.2km road connecting Diima, Nyamahasa, and Ogengo, a project valued at UGX 871,449,907.

The road upgrade is expected to enhance transportation, support agriculture, and improve access to health and education services for local residents.

During the launch, Kiryandongo District Engineer, Emmanuel Nuozima, underscored the importance of proper road usage and maintenance. He urged residents to avoid misuse of the road and respect road reserves to ensure its longevity.

Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Kiryandongo, Mr. Kyaligonza Athlem, reassured residents that the president had allocated UGX 870 million for the project, which is expected to be completed within eight months.

He also encouraged the community to actively monitor the project to ensure high construction standards are upheld.

LC5 Chairperson, Aliguma Edith Adyeeri, acknowledged concerns over the delayed start of the project but emphasized that her insistence on a first-class road was necessary.

“This road will accelerate the production of soya beans and sunflowers by improving market access for farmers, which will in turn boost household incomes,” she stated.

Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Dan Muganga, cautioned against reckless driving once the road is completed. He also advised farmers to adopt food storage techniques to mitigate the impact of prolonged droughts, ensuring food security in the district.

The 10.2km road rehabilitation project is expected to transform the lives of residents in Baradagu, Diima, and Ogengo, communities that have long struggled with poor infrastructure.

The improved road will facilitate trade, transportation, and access to essential services, marking a significant step towards economic growth in the region.
