Kikuube RDC Tumusiime eyes Bugahya County MP seat

It will be intriguing to see how the political landscape unfolds during the upcoming elections.

Hoima: Amlan Tumusiime, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Kikuube District, has revealed that he is considering a bid to represent the people of Bugahya County in Hoima District in the 12th Parliament.

This comes after residents of the county requested that he contest for the seat.

In an exclusive interview with this publication over the weekend, Tumusiime said that he cannot make a decision alone, as he lacks the authority to do so. Instead, he plans to consult with the people and seek guidance from God Almighty.

Tumusiime disclosed that if he chooses to contest in either Kikuube District or Hoima District, no one can defeat him. He attributed this to his down-to-earth nature and his ability to connect with people.

He has revealed that he has previously campaigned for various individuals and has built strong friendships with people from Hoima and Kikuube districts, with whom he has collaborated on development projects.

Although Tumusiime has not publicly declared his intentions to contest for the Bugahya County parliamentary seat, he revealed that residents are urging him to represent them.

In a show of support, people are presenting him with numerous gifts, including chickens and matooke, as a gesture of their desire for him to run.

If Tumusiime declares it publicly, he will be battling with the incumbent Pius Wakabi, who went through unopposed in the 2021 general elections.

Hon. Pius Wakabi is a Member of Parliament representing Bugahya County in Uganda’s 11th Parliament. He is a people-focused politician affiliated with the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

As an economist, entrepreneur, and now politician, Wakabi has been actively involved in addressing issues related to land ownership and development in the Bunyoro region.

It will be intriguing to see how the political landscape unfolds during the upcoming elections. The support from residents, including gifts like chickens and matooke, reflects their desire for Tumusiime to run.
