He praised church for its role in transformation and urged Ugandans to focus on wealth creation through hard work.
Kabale: The diocese of Kigezi is seeking two billion shillings after realizing over 1.2 billion shillings for the construction of the diocese’s shopping mall.
This was collected at the Bishop’s Development Fund (BDF) launch that was held at St. Peter’s Cathedral Rugarama grounds in the northern division of Kabale municipality on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who was represented by the State Minister of Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives in Charge of Industry Hon. David Bahati as the chief guest, praised church for its role in transformation and urged Ugandans to focus on wealth creation through hard work.
‘’You should be wealth creators through hard work in order to eradicate poverty in their communities rather than sitting and praying for miracles to happen,’’ he urged. Museveni stated that the church has partnered with the government in transforming the lives of Christians.
While preaching during the Thanksgiving Service, the Archbishop of the Anglican Province of Rwanda, Rt. Rev. Laurent Mbanda, called upon Christians to always live a committed, reasonable life through expressing his grace of what he has done for them in their day-to-day lives.
He further reminded Christians to always thank God because they have a lot of testimonies to thank God for, be committed to him, and live a renewed life by not conforming to the standards of this world. His Grace contributed 40 million shillings and thanked Bishop Gaddie Akanjuna for this great work and for teaching them such works of development.
Bishop Gaddie Akanjuna thanked the president for gracing their occasion through Hon. Minister David Bahati and pledged cooperation between the government and the church and that the church will continue spreading the government’s message of development, such as the parish development model and the diocesan programs like growing avocados to boost household incomes.
President Musveni has contributed a cash amount of Ugx 150 million shillings as the Bishop’s Development Fund raised a total amount of 1.245 billion shillings towards the construction of a mall for helping the Diocese’s income status of three billion shillings in a period of one and a half years.
