Kakumiro man hacked over alleged affair with married woman

He urged security personnel to conduct regular patrols to curb rising criminality in the area.

Kakumiro: A 25-year-old man was rushed to Kisiita Health Centre III after being severely hacked in Kisiita Town Council, Kakumiro District, over allegations of having an affair with another man’s wife.

The victim, Felix Byamukama, originally from Malongo Village in Kakindo Sub-county, currently resides in Kiryatete, Kisiita Town Council. The incident occurred around 6 PM when the suspect, Stephen Kyeyune, alias Mujasi, found Byamukama sitting with his wife at a bar in Kyabalitwa Trading Center.

Byamukama claims he had gone to Kyeyune’s home to demand payment when he was suddenly accused of having an affair with Kyeyune’s wife, leading to a violent altercation.

John Baptist Biryomumisho, the LCI Chairperson of Kyabalitwa, stated that upon learning about the incident, he immediately informed the police, who later arrested the suspect. He attributed the incident to excessive drinking and drug abuse in the community.

Biryomumisho urged security personnel to conduct regular patrols to curb rising criminality in the area.

Aidah Kururagire, the Kyabalitwa Ward female councillor, condemned the attack, linking it to idleness and excessive alcohol consumption by residents. She stressed the need for men to take responsibility and work for their families instead of spending time in bars.

Efforts to obtain a comment from Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Regional Police Spokesperson, were unsuccessful as he did not respond to phone calls at the time of reporting.
