Kagadi man killed, burned during fight for barmaid

Kagadi: A 22-year-old man has been killed and burned in Kagadi district during a fight for a barmaid.

The deceased has been identified as Peter Matovu, a resident of Kyabahuuba village, Kiziramfumbi subcounty, Kikuube district.

He was killed and his body set on fire in Rwenjobe village, Paachwa subcounty, Kagadi district, during a fight over a barmaid on Sunday, September 1, 2024.

His brother, Fred Kaahwa, 32, was also severely hacked by unidentified people and is currently admitted to a clinic.

According to the LC1 chairperson, Benon Bangirana, the conflict arose from a dispute over an unidentified woman.

He says the two brothers have been staying in Nasuti village, Pachwa Sub County, in search of women.

The LC3 chairperson, George Asiga, condemned the incident, urging youth to focus on productive activities.

The father of the deceased, Nyakoojo Balthazar, appealed to the police to expedite investigations and bring the suspects to justice.

The police rushed to the scene, retrieved the body, and took it to the Kagadi hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

No arrests have been made yet.

We couldn’t get a comment from Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Regional Police Spokesperson, by the time of publication since he didn’t respond to our repeated phone calls.
