Kagadi cult attack victims face medical shortages
The October 29 attack resulted in ten deaths and was reportedly motivated by cult beliefs held by two brothers.
Kagadi: Following the violent cult-related attack in Muzizi village, Kyaterekera sub-county, Kagadi District, nine survivors are now facing severe medical shortages at Kagadi General Hospital.
The victims, who are hospitalized with serious injuries from the October 29 incident, report that the hospital has been unable to provide essential medication, impacting their recovery.
According to Melvin Akooha, a caretaker, the hospital’s limited budget has made it difficult to adequately care for the victims.
Simon Peter, the Kagadi Hospital Administrator, added that the hospital’s resources have been strained by a high patient load and depleted medical supplies, with the attack survivors requiring substantial medication.
The victims have appealed to the government, local leaders, and the public for assistance to address these medical shortages and improve their chances of recovery.
The October 29 attack resulted in ten deaths and was reportedly motivated by cult beliefs held by two brothers, Baguma Obed and Munyirambe David, who targeted family members for refusing to join their religious group.
Local authorities revealed that the brothers attacked their relatives, including their elderly parents and young family members, due to a disagreement over their teachings, which they labeled as “God, Holy Spirit, Son, Man-Man.”
The deceased victims, including family members aged between 3 and 76, were laid to rest on November 30. The tragedy has left a deep impact on the local community, with leaders urging continued vigilance and support to prevent further violence linked to cult activities.
