Iyalakwe Shines at Kapelebyong District MDD Festival 2025

Kapelebyong: Iyalakwe Primary School has secured the top position at the 2025 District Primary Schools Music, Dance, and Drama (MDD) Festival, held at Acowa Primary School on August 10, 2025.

The event was a vibrant celebration of talent and creativity, drawing hundreds of enthusiastic attendees.

Competing against three other schools Amero Primary School, Alaso Primary School, and Odiding Primary School representing three coordinating centers, Iyalakwe stood out with its exceptional performances.

The festival featured a diverse range of artistic expressions, including dramas, set pieces about National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) and MAAM, traditional folk songs, traditional folk dances, an instrumental composition, sight singing, poetry on school Pay, vocal solo and climate change, storytelling, original compositions, creative dances and speeches.

Iyalakwe’s performances were nothing short of outstanding, earning an impressive total of 1,168 marks, which placed them in first place. Amero Primary School secured the second position with 920 marks, Alaso Primary School ranked third with 871 marks, while Odiding Primary School finished fourth with a score of 672 marks.

All participating schools exhibited remarkable talent, particularly in their set pieces.

The adjudicators for the event, Waikere Henry and Olet Jane, ensured an impartial evaluation, which cemented the festival’s integrity.

Romano Okare, the Inspector of Schools for Kapelebyong, praised the pupils for their tremendous efforts and performances.

He expressed optimism that the Iyalakwe team, now set to represent the district at the regional competition, will showcase their skills and put Kapelebyong on the map.

Iyalakwe Primary School will compete in the regional competition in Amuria District on August 14 and 15, where they aim to secure a place among the top eight out of 13 teams in the region to qualify for the national competition.
