Hoima RCC suspends the disbursement of PDM funds

The program aims to allocate 100 million shillings annually to each of Uganda’s 10,594 parishes, with the government committing over one trillion shillings each financial year.

Hoima: The implementation of the Parish Development Model (PDM) in Hoima City has encountered challenges related to the disbursement of funds.

According to Badru Mugabi, the Hoima Resident City Commissioner (RCC), irregularities in beneficiary selection led to the suspension of PDM fund disbursement in the Northern Ward of Hoima East division.

Specifically, a beneficiary was fraudulently removed from the list, allegedly due to being chased from her rented house and disqualified as a non-resident.

‘’The program implementers in the ward connived and had the beneficiary removed from the list after she was allegedly chased from her rented house, disqualifying her as a non-resident,’’ Badru said.

Despite this setback, the city has already received 50 million shillings for each of the 16 wards, which is intended for distribution under the PDM.

He noted that around 1.79 billion shillings was the first disbursement, with an addition of approximately 50 billion, making it around 2.29 billion shillings for Hoima, of which most of it has been given to the intended beneficiaries, and he hopes to have more money as promised soon.
