Masindi: Police in Masindi District have detained Ibrahim Muhingo, the driver of HMK Bus with registration number UAP 387 U, in connection with a tragic accident that resulted in the deaths of two children and left another critically injured.

The incident occurred over the weekend, around 8 PM, at Kyema Cell along the Masindi-Kigumba Road when the bus was heading towards Masindi Town.

The deceased have been identified as Immaculate Anesa, 13, and Mercy, 7. The third child, Emily Angucia, 17, is currently receiving treatment at Masindi Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.

The bodies of the two children who died at the scene were transported to Masindi Hospital Mortuary, while Angucia remains hospitalized.

Jacklyn Wembabazi, a neighbor and resident of Katama Cell in Central Division, shared with this publication that she and the three children had attended prayers together at Kyema Technical College on Saturday but left them behind when she went home.

Wembabazi explained that after leaving the children at the college, she returned home.

However, when they went to check on them later, they were informed of unclaimed bodies at the Masindi Hospital Mortuary, where the two deceased children were identified.

He also confirmed that the driver, Ibrahim Muhingo, was arrested and is being held at the Masindi Central Police Station as investigations continue.
