Kikuube: Police in Kikuube district have registered the death of one James Okello, 50, a fisherman and a resident of Nsoga village, who was attacked by a hippopotamus on Lake Albert.

It is alleged that at around 7:30 a.m. this morning, the deceased went to check on his fishing net and entered the water, which was like 30 meters away from the landing site where the hippopotamus attacked him.

The Albertine Region Police Spokesperson, Julius Allan Hakiza, confirmed the incident and advised the fishermen to desist from the act of going alone to the lake, noting that they should start moving in groups.

‘’This is the second case registered on Lake Albert in the space of two months; fishermen should therefore desist from going to the lake when not in groups,’’ he advised.

This is not the first incident on Lake Albert; many fishermen have been killed by the hippopotamus.
