Greater Kibaale mourns former LC5 Chairman

His passing has left a deep void in the region, and his commitment to public service and education will be fondly remembered by those whose lives he touched.

Kagadi: The Greater Kibaale community is in mourning following the passing of George William Namyaka, the former LC5 Chairman of Kibaale District.

Namyaka, who was also a respected educator and leader, died Sunday morning at his home in Kitemuzi Cell, Mabaale Town Council, Kagadi District.

Namyaka, who served as district chairman from 2002 to 2016, is remembered for his significant contributions to the region, both as a political leader and as an educator.

Bizibu George William, former Speaker of Greater Kibaale, announced that the funeral will take place on Tuesday, preceded by a joint council meeting of Kibaale, Kakumiro, and Kagadi districts at Kagadi Community Hall.

Reflecting on Namyaka’s legacy, Bizibu described him as a purpose-driven individual whose leadership touched many lives, both in his role as district chairperson and as a head teacher at Naigana Secondary School.

“His influence in the community was far-reaching, and his work will continue to inspire generations to come,” Bizibu stated.

Kagadi District LC5 Chairman, Ndibwami B Yosia, praised Namyaka for his efforts to promote peace and development in the district. “He was a man who always put the interests of his people first,” Yosia said, emphasizing Namyaka’s pivotal role in fostering harmony and progress.

Others who paid tribute to Namyaka included Dr. Emily Kugonza, the Member of Parliament for Buyanja East Constituency, who highlighted his conflict resolution efforts within the Bunyoro sub-region. Dr. Mwalimu Musheshe, Vice Chancellor of African Rural University, remembered Namyaka as a neutral and unifying figure who facilitated peaceful coexistence between the Banyoro and immigrant communities.

Peter Mugisa Sebugwaho, Male Councilor of Mabaale Town Council, lauded Namyaka’s integrity, noting his reputation for being incorruptible during his leadership.

Namyaka’s political journey began in 2002 when he was nominated as a compromise candidate for district chairman, following a tense election period involving Fred Rulemera. His tenure, which lasted until 2016, was marked by efforts to bring development and unity to the region.

Before entering politics, Namyaka had a long career in education, serving as a head teacher at Naigana and Duhaga Senior Secondary Schools, where he was known for his dedication to the well-being and education of his students.

His passing has left a deep void in the region, and his commitment to public service and education will be fondly remembered by those whose lives he touched.
