Govt constructs mini solar-powered piped water facility in Kabarole
The construction works being undertaken by Nexus Green Limited will take a period of two months.
Kabaroe: The government has embarked on the construction of a 400 million shillings mini solar-powered piped water facility in Kasenda Sub County, Kabarole district.
The project will be implemented by the Ministry of Water and Environment. Once complete, the system will serve residents in the villages of Rweraza A and Rweraza B that have been battling with acute water shortage.
The construction works being undertaken by Nexus Green Limited will take a period of two months.
Speaking during the project launch at Kasenda Sub-county headquarters on Thursday August 8, 2024, Richard Rwabuhinga, the Kabarole District Chairman says once finished, the water system will play a pivotal role of supplying residents in the two villages with clean and safe drinking water.
Rwabuhinga added that for long, residents in the area have been fetching unclean water from unprotected wells and creator lakes putting their lives at risk of acquiring water-borne diseases.
The Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Kabarole, Arthur Hakiza Nzeyimana urged residents in the area to improve sanitation in their home as one way of preventing diseases.
Ruta Gideon and Annet Asasira the area District Councillors said for long they have been struggling with acute water shortage and that often share water sources with animals.
Katwesigye Son Milton the Kasenda Sub county LC3 Chairperson hopes that the project will be a lifesaver to the beneficiaries. Frank Asaba the Assistant RDC Kabarole urged local residents to vacate from wetlands as a way of protecting the environment.
