Canadian PGA Pro Robbie Johnson Joins Global Mentorship Program to Grow Golf in Uganda
Now a certified PGA of Canada professional, Robbie continues to share his love for the game at one of Canada’s most iconic golf venues.
Fort Portal: Canadian PGA Professional Robbie Johnson has officially joined the AFRIYEA Golf Academy’s Global Mentorship Program, becoming the latest international golf expert to support the Academy’s mission of developing young talent and transforming lives through golf in Uganda and across Africa.
Robbie, a respected coach at the Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course in Alberta, brings both passion and an impressive track record to the initiative.
A former collegiate golfer in the U.S., he competed for Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) and Campbellsville University, where he sharpened his leadership and competitive skills.
Now a certified PGA of Canada professional, Robbie continues to share his love for the game at one of Canada’s most iconic golf venues.

With his addition, Robbie becomes the 34th mentor in the AFRIYEA Global Mentorship Program, which now includes experts from 11 countries. The program connects young, aspiring golfers in Uganda with seasoned golf professionals around the world, fostering skill development, personal growth, and global friendships.
“It’s a privilege to contribute to a program that’s not just about golf, but about empowering young people with skills and values they can use for life,” said Robbie following his first virtual session with his Ugandan mentee.
The inaugural session focused on game strategy, mental preparation, and the importance of a structured training plan all delivered with enthusiasm and encouragement.
AFRIYEA Golf Academy, based in Fort Portal, Uganda, has rapidly gained recognition across East Africa for using golf as a tool for education and empowerment.
The Global Mentorship Program is a cornerstone of the academy’s outreach efforts, providing one-on-one mentorship that goes beyond the course.
Robbie joins shortly after Marcella Marais of Ireland, who became the 33rd mentor in July highlighting the growing international momentum behind AFRIYEA’s work.
“Professionals like Robbie are helping us build bridges between continents,” said an AFRIYEA spokesperson. “It’s a global golf community coming together to create real, lasting impact in places where access to the game has been limited.”
