Buliisa pastor on run for extorting PDM beneficiaries
He warned PDM leaders and beneficiaries in the subcounty to desist from such saga, saying they risk being arrested.
Buliisa: A renown, born-again pastor of Kalengeija Miracle Center Church in Busingiro parish in Biiso subcounty Buliisa District is on the run following an arrest warrant issued against him for allegedly extorting money from Parish Development Model (PDM) beneficiaries.
The suspect has been identified as Pastor Robert Agaba of Kalengeija Miracle Center Church, who also doubles as PDM Sacco chairperson of Busingiro Parish.
The Buliisa Resident District Commissioner, Longino Bahebwa, told this publication that he has ordered his immediate arrest on allegations of extorting money from PDM beneficiaries after being tipped off by residents.
It is alleged that Agaba solicited money from beneficiaries, asking them to pay between Shs20.000 and Shs80.000, claiming that the money is used for facilitating the opening of bank accounts and officials from the district.
Brian Tumwine, a resident of Udukuru In a village in Busingiro parish, a brother, Aheebwa Mpigwa, the victim, disclosed that, it is true, Agaba requested 80.000 shillings.
According to him, the suspect also alleged to have charged each beneficiary Shs10.000 for buying him a smart phone, claiming it is used for collecting data for the beneficiaries.
He asked for government intervention into the matter since beneficiaries are losing money to leaders and missing government programs.
Denis Oyewa, the chairperson of LC3 Biiso Sub County, confirmed the reports, saying he had gotten the communication from the RDC ordering police in Biiso to arrest Pastor Agaba.
Oyewa warned PDM leaders and beneficiaries in the subcounty to desist from such saga, saying they risk being arrested.
