Buliisa LCV-elect Wandera pledges improved service delivery

Buliisa: The newly elected LC5 Chairperson for Buliisa District, Wandera Atuhairwe Twairi (WAT), has pledged to prioritize improved service delivery, with a focus on road infrastructure, education, health, and other essential services.

Speaking in an interview with this publication over the weekend, Wandera thanked residents for exercising their civic duty and entrusting him with leadership. He pledged to work tirelessly to promote development and improve the welfare of the people of Buliisa District.

The LCV-elect called for unity and cooperation among residents, political leaders, and outgoing officials, emphasizing that teamwork will be crucial in achieving meaningful progress.

“I am calling for unity and cooperation from residents and outgoing leaders because teamwork will be key to achieving better services for the people of Buliisa,” he said.

Wandera, who contested as an Independent candidate, defeated incumbent Fred Lukumu of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), polling 15,416 votes against Lukumu’s 12,637.

Other candidates in the race included Serermoth Kahwa, who garnered 308 votes; Onechan John with 752 votes; and Edison Oryema of the National Unity Platform (NUP), who polled 162 votes.

The Buliisa District Returning Officer, Robert Kunihira, reported that the elections were generally peaceful, although voter turnout across the district was low.
