Bishop Kirabo decries parental absence, calls for support in hospital construction
He urged Christian families to prioritize spending quality time with their children to instill moral values and responsible behavior.

Hoima: The Bishop of Hoima Catholic Diocese, Rt. Rev. Vincent Kirabo Amooti, has raised concerns over the increasing trend of parental absence in family life, warning that it is contributing to a growing number of undisciplined children.
Bishop Kirabo made these remarks during his 9th Episcopal Ordination Anniversary celebrations, held at Christ the King Catholic Church, Butema, in the Hoima Vicariate.
The Bishop noted that parents and guardians failing to dedicate enough time to their families have negatively impacted children’s upbringing and discipline.
He urged Christian families to prioritize spending quality time with their children to instill moral values and responsible behavior.
In addition to addressing family concerns, Bishop Kirabo called on Christians, parishes, and well-wishers to support his dream of constructing the St. Mary Specialised Women and Children’s Hospital in Bujumbura, which is currently under development.
A fundraising drive was spearheaded by the Chief Guest, Hon. Grace Mary Mugasa, the State Minister for Public Service, where UGX 66 million was raised. Minister Mugasa personally contributed UGX 5 million towards the project.
Rev. Fr. Patrick Museveni, the Head of Communications for Hoima Catholic Diocese, revealed that they aim to raise UGX 300 million to complete the first phase of the hospital.
Minister Grace Mary Mugasa commended Bishop Kirabo for his visionary leadership, highlighting his commitment to development and social welfare during his nine years of service as Bishop of Hoima Diocese.
Pius Wakabi, the Bughaya County MP, acknowledged the Diocese’s role in enhancing education quality through its institutions.
Grace Koojo, a devoted Catholic, lauded the Bishop for his developmental efforts and echoed his call for parents to spend more time with their children.
