Hoima: Police in Hoima District are investigating the theft of a newborn baby boy from Kigorobya Health Centre IV.
The incident occurred on Sunday, when Florence Nyangoma, a resident of Kyeremya village, Kiganja Sub-County, gave birth to a healthy baby boy at 10:37 AM.
At 5:50 PM, a woman posing as a nurse approached Nyangoma and requested to take the baby for immunization. However, after some time, the woman did not return with the child.
When Nyangoma searched for the woman, both the baby and the woman were gone. She immediately reported the incident to the police, who are working to trace the suspect and recover the baby.
Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson, has urged healthcare workers to be more vigilant and ensure all details of mothers and their caretakers are carefully documented to prevent such incidents.
