Babiito disappointed over current crisis in Bunyoro Kingdom
He refuted allegations circulating that he was too selective by choosing many members from one family, saying that’s not true.
Hoima: A section of Babiito clan members has expressed disappointment in the current crisis in the kingdom, calling for reconciliation of different parties and engagement of stakeholders.
The disappointment by Babiito follows the appointment of a new cabinet by the chief prince, Fred Mugenyi Ruchunya, on Tuesday and the reaction of the prime minister, which are raising a red flag.
Speaking to this publication last evening, Gerald Baleke, the county chief of Buhaguzi in Kikuube district, says Okwiri and his committee did not consult most of them. He urged the chief prince and his committee to call a stakeholder meeting to discuss and see how to address the leadership crisis in the Kingdom.
David Kyamanywa, the Chairman, Babito Savings Credit Association, also said that as Babito, they are not happy with what is happening in the kingdom, adding that the kingdom is not only for the Babiito clan but all clans, therefore saying that they desire this leadership crisis to be addressed fully.
He demanded all the clan heads to be invited and discuss how they should choose the transition of the office of the prime minister and other administrative offices.
Kachope Musunga, a member of the Babiito ruling clan from Kyesiga ward, says that Okwiri has no capacity to appoint the cabinet, adding that only Omukama has this mandate, adding that the current crisis is not giving the kingdom good publicity.
Reacting to the concerns of his Cabinet members, the Chief Prince Fred Mugenyi Rucunya challenged those with issues to visit his office and seek clarification instead of complaining to unconcerned parties.
He refuted allegations circulating that he was too selective by choosing many members from one family, saying that’s not true.
