Assailants kill 25-year-old man in Gulu

Gulu: The police in Gulu City’s East Policing Division are searching for unidentified assailants in connection with the alleged murder of Gum Henry Moses, a 25-year-old resident of Peace Pudyek Cell, Laroo Parish Division.

According to ASP Ongom David Mudong, the Aswa West Police Spokesperson, it is alleged that on the night of October 13, 2024, two unknown assailants attacked the deceased with a hammer while he was sleeping in his room.

His colleague, Oneka William, who was watching TV in the sitting room, heard cries for help from Gum’s room and rushed to investigate, only to find him in a pool of blood.

ASP Mudong added that the witness claims to have seen two men fleeing the scene. Although Gum was rushed to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital for treatment, he unfortunately died on Monday morning.

The police’s Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) and other detectives visited the site, documenting evidence. They recovered items of evident value, including a hammer and a pair of sandals believed to belong to the suspects, found a short distance from the scene.

ASP Ongom David Mudong urged members of the public to enhance neighborhood watch and strengthen security measures at their residences by installing sturdy gates, doors, and security lights to deter potential intruders.
