Another Baby Coach Bus involved in road crash in Nebbi

The Nebbi crash underscores ongoing challenges in Uganda’s road safety landscape, particularly for passenger buses operating on major routes.

Nebbi: A Baby Coach bus traveling from Kampala to Arua was involved in a single-vehicle road traffic crash early Wednesday morning, July 9, 2025, in Vulu Vulu village, Ulagu Parish, Padwot Sub-County, Nebbi District.

The bus reportedly veered off the road and landed on its side, according to eyewitness accounts. Images circulating on social media show the vehicle lying off the roadway with significant front windshield damage.

Denis Opio, the LCIII chairperson of Padwot Sub-County, confirmed the incident stating that no fatalities were reported. “No fatalities were reported, but several passengers sustained injuries and were promptly transported to nearby health facilities for treatment.”

This incident follows another recent crash involving a Baby Coach bus in Nwoya District, raising concerns about road safety for public transport vehicles.

According to the Uganda Police Force’s Annual Crime Report for 2024, road traffic crashes increased by 6.4%, with 25,107 incidents recorded compared to 23,608 in 2023. Fatal crashes rose by 6.1%, totaling 4,434, and resulted in 5,144 fatalities, a 7% increase from 4,806 in 2023, translating to approximately 14 deaths daily.
