Amlan questions NRM tribunal decision after losing petition

“I still believe the tribunal's decision was not free and fair,” he said.

Kampala: Former Kikuube District Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr. Amlan Tumusiime, has extended his gratitude to the people of Bugahya County for their overwhelming support during the recent NRM primaries, while raising questions about the fairness of the party’s tribunal process.

Speaking to this publication on Friday, Tumusiime claimed he secured victory in the Bugahya County NRM primaries with over 13,000 votes.

However, he expressed surprise and disappointment after the NRM tribunal declared Mr. Pius Wakabi Rujumba as the party’s flag bearer.

The controversy followed an unusual development in which the Hoima District NRM Registrar reportedly announced two winners for the same parliamentary seat, prompting Tumusiime to file a petition with the party tribunal.

While he expressed dissatisfaction with the outcome, Tumusiime stated that he is still consulting with his supporters and stakeholders before making a final decision on his next steps.

He ruled out challenging the matter in court, citing the strength and influence of the NRM party.

“I still believe the tribunal’s decision was not free and fair,” he said. “But for the sake of unity, I will not pursue legal action.”

Despite his concerns, Tumusiime congratulated Wakabi on being declared the flag bearer and urged his supporters to remain calm, respectful, and peaceful.

He also called for unity among all NRM members, emphasizing the need to work together to strengthen and promote the party in the region.
