Amanyire pledges to improve service delivery as he launches mayoral campaign
“If you trust me with your office, I will work closely with other leaders including the district chairperson, division LC3 chairpersons, councillors and the public,” he told supporters.

Masindi: Rogers Amanyire, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer for the Masindi Municipality mayoral seat, has pledged to prioritize improved service delivery as he officially launched his campaign.
Amanyire, popularly known as Mulindwa, kicked off his campaign in Kihande 1 Cell, Central Division. He said he decided to contest due to persistent challenges in the municipality, citing poor accountability for government funds, inadequate garbage collection, lack of transparency, and growing disunity among local leaders.
“If you trust me with your office, I will work closely with other leaders including the district chairperson, division LC3 chairpersons, councillors and the public,” he told supporters.
During engagements held earlier in the day, residents of Masindi Municipality raised concerns and demanded improved service delivery in the next five-year political term.
Edward Byaruhanga, a resident of Kikonya Cell in Kigulya Division, urged incoming leaders to lobby for the construction of a health centre, a government-aided secondary school, and upgrades in the road network. He noted that high school dropout rates and the long distances residents walk to access health services continue to affect community wellbeing.
Siifa Kyomuhendo from Kihande 1 Cell echoed the call for better health infrastructure, urging leaders to advocate for a standard hospital similar to those in districts such as Kiryandongo.
Patrick Isingoma, a resident of Kijura North Cell, asked leaders to push for the construction of a modern market and a hospital. He pointed out that neighbouring districts like Buliisa and Kiryandongo which were once part of Masindi now have better markets and hospital facilities.
In response to the residents’ concerns, Amanyire said the construction of Masindi Central Market is already in the pipeline, while works on Masindi Hospital have commenced. He added that several municipal roads will be tarmacked and fitted with streetlights under the UCMID project.
At the launch event, he pledged to promote unity and work closely with both municipal and district leadership to ensure effective service delivery.
While addressing voters at Kijura Trading Centre, Amanyire revealed that Masindi has been allocated 20 kilometres of tarmac. He promised to prioritise tarmacking the local trading area known as Kizigati and installing streetlights there.
He also urged residents to vote for President Yoweri Museveni and all NRM flag bearers, saying the ruling party has brought significant development to the Bunyoro region.
Fredrick Mandela, the NRM flag bearer for LC3 Chairperson Central Division, said Amanyire secured the party flag at a time when Masindi Municipality is yearning for change in leadership.
Rogers Byamukama, the NRM flag bearer for Masindi Municipality MP and the municipal party chairperson, also appealed to voters to support only NRM candidates at all levels.
