Adjumani deadly arson attack leaves one dead, three arrested

Adjumani: A brutal midday attack involving arson and homicide has shaken Leaguru Village in Pakele Sub-county, Adjumani District, after armed assailants raided a homestead on December 2, 2025, leaving one person dead and prompting a joint security operation.
According to North West Nile Regional Police Spokesperson SP Collins Asea, the attack occurred at around 0200 hours, when a group of armed men wielding pangas, bows, and arrows stormed the complainant’s home. The family fled for safety as the attackers set the main house ablaze.
In a separate structure within the same compound, another family member was violently assaulted with sharp objects and later succumbed to multiple lacerations and blunt-force injuries. The victim was evacuated to Mungula Health Centre IV by responding officers but was pronounced dead at approximately 1300 hours.
Police and UPDF personnel mounted a rapid response, arresting three prime suspects, all residents of Leaguru Village. They are currently detained at Adjumani Central Police Station and face preliminary charges of murder, arson, and aggravated robbery under Case Ref: ADJ CRB 706/2025.
Scene of Crime Officers and homicide detectives documented both the burnt homestead and the secondary assault site. The deceased’s body has been taken for a postmortem examination under PF 48A and PF 48B.
