Gas cylinder explosion claims lives in Kampala

Kampala: The Kampala Metropolitan Police are investigating a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two individuals, including an Indian national.

The explosion occurred on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at approximately 9:50 a.m. in Sembule A, Kabowa Parish, Rubaga Division.

The deceased have been identified as Andrajt Baraya, an Indian national, and Amos, a Ugandan national. Preliminary reports suggest that the pair were operating an oxygen plant during their day shift when a gas cylinder exploded, leading to their immediate fatalities.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police says in collaboration with experts, they are working diligently to uncover the circumstances surrounding the explosion and determine its cause.

The police extend their deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and assure the public that a thorough investigation is underway to establish the facts behind this unfortunate incident.
