Kiryandongo: Soldiers stationed at Kaduku Hill Army Detach in Kiryandongo district shot and killed an unidentified man who attempted to breach security at the military facility while armed with a bow and arrows over the weekend.

Despite warnings from soldiers guarding the facility, the armed man continued to advance. When the officers tried to stop him, he threatened them with his bow and arrows, prompting the soldiers to respond by shooting him in the forehead.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident, stating that police were alerted and quickly arrived at the scene. The body was subsequently taken to Kiryandongo General Hospital Mortuary, where it awaits postmortem and identification.

Hakiza noted that, at this time, the motive behind the man’s actions remains unknown adding that investigations are ongoing to determine why the stranger, armed with a primitive weapon, attempted to enter a highly secured military installation.

‘’We calling on members of the public who may have information about the man’s identity to come forward as they continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the fatal encounter.’’
