Hundreds benefit from free medical camp in Kikuube
The beneficiaries who had complications in their eyes received reading glasses, while those who required surgery will be taken to Mengo Hospital for an operation.
Kikuube: Over 300 people from Bugambe Sub County in Kikuube district have benefited from a free medical camp offering eye and orthopaedic treatment services.
The medical camp, which was held in Katanga village, was organized by the Itaza Development Foundation in collaboration with the eye department of Mengo Hospital and the orthopaedic department of Mulago Hospital.
Stephen Aseera Itaza, the Buhaguzi East Member of Parliament, said that there is a high demand for eye and orthopaedic treatment among people in Kikuube district.
Simon Mugerwa, an outreach coordinator at the eye department of Mengo Hospital, said that most eye patients were diagnosed with cataracts (Endasi) among the elders and eye allergies among children.
Some of the residents who benefited from the medical camp said they have been suffering for a long time without getting treatment.
