Residents in Prime Minister’s home district decry poor service delivery

Nyamuha Village has a population of over 10,000 people, many of whom continue to struggle due to inadequate social services.

Kakumiro: Residents and local leaders in Nyamuha Village, Nyamuha Parish, Birembo Sub-County, located in Kakumiro District, the home district of Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, have raised concerns over poor service delivery in the area.

The locals cite poor roads, lack of access to clean water, distant health centers, and lack of electricity, among other challenges, as major setbacks to their development.

While meeting Harriet Ssali Tibulihwa, an aspirant for the Kakumiro District Woman Parliamentary seat, residents expressed their frustration, accusing their leaders of neglecting the area and failing to improve essential services.

Seperanza Nyirahabineza, a resident, lamented the long distances they have to travel to access health centers, only to find no medicines available when they get there.

Posiano Mirani, another resident, decried the lack of clean water and poor road networks, which he said have contributed to persistent poverty in the area.

Meanwhile, Edward Asiimwe noted that while neighboring villages have been connected to electricity, their community was left out, hindering development.

Local leaders, including Faustine Kamuhanda, the LC I Chairperson of Nyamuha Village, and William Tumwesigye, the NRM Chairperson of Nyamuha Village, echoed the concerns, stating that the poor road infrastructure has made it difficult for residents to access essential services. They called upon the government to intervene and address the challenges.

In response, Harriet Ssali Tibulihwa initiated the rehabilitation of a spring well to provide clean water to the residents.

However, she urged leaders at all levels to actively lobby for better services to ensure that all communities benefit from government programs.
