48-year-old found dead in Hoima stream

Hoima: Police in Hoima are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 48-year-old man, identified as Bigirwa, whose body was discovered in a stream under suspicious conditions.

Julius Allan Hakiza, the spokesperson for the Albertine South Region Police, confirmed the incident, which occurred in Kyedikyo Cell, Bwikya Ward, Hoima City.

According to Anthony Ecuku, the Local Council Chairperson of Kyedikyo, he received information from residents about a body found dumped in a nearby stream. Upon inspection, it was evident that the deceased had sustained fresh injuries.

“The deceased had visible injuries on the middle of his head and body, suggesting he was severely beaten before being thrown into the stream,” Hakiza stated.

He further revealed that Bigirwa had recently lost his wife, though it is still unclear whether this is connected to his death.

The body has been transferred to the Hoima City Mortuary for postmortem examination as investigations continue.

Police have appealed to members of the public who may have any information related to Bigirwa’s death to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
