DPP clears State House aid, Komuhimbo of false trespass allegations

Kampala: Harriet Komuhimbo, a State House Aide is now a free lady after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) cleared her and dropped false allegations of trespass which had brought against her by a Nigerian National identified as Augustine Onwunche Nnamdi in Kikandwa Zone, Lungujja in Rubaga Division.

“This is to inform Court that the DPP has decided to discontinue proceedings against Komuhimbo Harriet, Ahabwe Reagan no- 55459 Magezi Norman charged with trespass C/S 302 (a) of the penal code act,” reads the withdrawal farm signed by Abodo.

It is copied to the Mwanga II court’s resident state attorney and the Kampala South Regional CID officer.

Nnamdi, through his lawyers of M/S Deric advocates and solicitors, asked the DPP to withdraw the charges against the officials.

“Our client avers and contends that he has withdrawn interest and has no interest whatsoever in prosecuting the above captioned subject matter hence based on the above, it is our client’s prayer and request that the matter in court should be withdrawn against the accused persons. We humbly pray that the said matter be withdrawn,” reads the latter in part.

Nnamdi also formally apologized to Komuhimbo and her colleagues for falsely accusing them of trespass

The duo identified as Harriet Akiiki Komuhimbo, 39, and Reagan Ahabwe, 31, were on Friday, November 24, 2023, arraigned before Mwanga II Road Court Magistrate Adams Byarugaba and charged with trespass contrary to Section 2 of the Penal Code Act.

Last year a court order signed by Adams Byaruhanga, the principal grade one magistrate, withdrew the charges.

“It is hereby ordered that the case against the three accused persons is hereby withdrawn as per the request of the DPP,” reads the court order.

Court heard from state prosecution that the suspects, together with others at large were arrested on November 16 2023, after they reportedly raided the home of Nnamdi in Kikandwa Zone, Lungujja in Rubaga Division after suspecting him of dealing in smuggled goods.
